Farm School for
Culinary Professionals
Coming in
2011! Spend a week learning first-hand how local ingredients are grown and
value-added products are created.
Dog Mountain Farm provides
the ideal location, just 45 minutes from Seattle. And you'll be exposed to
an amazing array of learning opportunities with poultry, dairy goats,
heritage breed pigs, gardens, and greenhouse. You will stay in
well-appointed yurts and participate in daily farm activities such as
collecting eggs; milking goats; slaughtering poultry; planting and
harvesting vegetables, herbs, and edible flowers; and preparing these fresh
ingredients in the outdoor kitchen. Field trips to other local producers and
sustainable agriculture topics will be covered.
Classes
Culinary
Traditions Series
If you want to fill your pantry and refrigerator with basic ingredients to
use in your cooking, or are simply curious about learning culinary skills
beyond meal preparation, these classes are for you. Bake bread; make jams
and jellies; craft cheese and butter; prepare mustards, herbal vinegars and
oils; learn how to use edible flowers; and make beer. Ingredients will be
hand-picked on Dog Mountain
Farm or provided by other local producers, and preparations will be done
in the Farm's outdoor kitchen. Classes and dates will be posted in the
coming months. Join our
mailing list to be the first to learn about these unique classes.
Cancellation Policy
The School regrets not being able to offer refunds on classes
except in the instance of cancellation of class due to insufficient
enrollment. In the event you are unable to attend a class you have already
paid for, you may apply your tuition fee toward a future class.
